These are NOT the only tips for writer's. These are just some that were shared with me.
- Back up your work. Backing up is important. Use whatever means you have or like. Back up every day or at least once a week. BACK-UP SUNDAY is a good habit to get into.
- Read, Read, Read... reading expands your creativity.
- Use a thesaurus.
- Remove excess adjectives
- Use character actions rather than he/she said.
- Avoid long, drawn out sentences.
- Write 1st draft without editing
- Find your best time and place to write. Stick to writing then.
- Work on a computer without internet or refrain from checking Twitter, Facebook, email and blogs.
- After editing, read aloud to catch awkward sentences and other errors
- Write longhand a few sentences of a favorite book. This will help you get into the style and genre you are entering.
- Keep fit. A fit body supports creativity
- NEVER give up
- Start a blog
- Socialize with other writers. Twitter is a good place.
- Use word sprints. They can be found on Twitter
- Participate in NaNoWriMo and CampNaNoWriMo
- Lack of inspiration? Search Pinterest for something to do with your work.
